Terms of Service

Welcome to Grainlight Co. These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of grainlightco.com (the "Site") and to purchases made on the Site from Grainlight Co LLC ("Grainlight," "we," "us," or "our"), a small studio based in Texas. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

Purchases made through our Etsy shop (grainlightco) are also subject to Etsy's terms. Our Fieldlight Android app is distributed through Google Play, which has its own terms for app purchases, and is covered by the separate Fieldlight Privacy Policy.

1. Our Products

We sell handmade woodwork, nature photography prints (including signed limited editions), and hand-finished 3D-printed decor. Many items are made in small batches or one at a time.

Handmade variation. Each piece is made or finished by hand, from natural materials such as solid hardwood or from wood-filled and specialty filaments. Grain, color, knots, mineral streaks, stain absorption, faint 3D-print layer lines, and small surface marks vary from piece to piece and from the photos. These are part of the character of handmade work, not defects. Colors can also look different depending on your screen.

Dimensions listed on product pages are approximate.

Licensed designs. Some 3D-printed pieces are made from designs by independent designers under commercial licenses. The product page credits the designer where that applies.

Indoor use. Unless a product page says otherwise, decor items are for indoor display and aren't toys. Wood items not described as food-safe shouldn't be used with food.

2. Orders

  • Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept your order when we confirm it by email or ship it.
  • We may refuse or cancel an order, for example if an item is out of stock (including when a one-of-a-kind item sells on another channel at the same time), if there's a pricing or listing error, if we suspect fraud, or if we can't ship to your address. If we cancel after you've paid, we'll give you a full refund.
  • We currently ship only within the United States.
  • Custom and personalized orders: we make the item to the specifications you give us, so please check spelling, sizes, and other details before you submit. Custom and personalized items can't be returned except as described in our Shipping & Returns policy.

3. Pricing, Shipping Charges, and Payment

  • Prices are in US dollars. Applicable sales tax is added at checkout. Standard US shipping is free. Express shipping is available for an added charge, shown at checkout.
  • Prices, promotions, and availability can change without notice. Prices and sales on Etsy may differ from the Site because each platform has its own fees and promotions.
  • If we listed an item at the wrong price, we may cancel the order and refund you, or contact you to confirm the correct price before shipping.
  • Payments are processed through Squarespace by third-party payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal. We don't store your full card number.

4. Shipping, Returns, and Refunds

Shipping, damaged-item, return, and refund terms are in our Shipping & Returns policy, which is part of these Terms. Risk of loss passes to you when the carrier delivers the package, but we'll help with lost or damaged shipments as described in that policy.

5. Limited-Edition Prints

When a print is sold as a limited edition, we won't produce more prints of that image in the same size and format once the edition is sold out. The image may still be offered in other sizes, formats, or media, and used in our portfolio and marketing.

6. Intellectual Property

  • Photographs. The photographs on the Site, including the gallery images and the images on our prints, are owned by photographer Kevin Jackson, co-owner of Grainlight Co LLC, and are used and sold by Grainlight Co LLC with his permission. If we feature work by another photographer, that photographer keeps the copyright to their own work. All rights reserved.
  • Other content. Product designs (other than licensed third-party designs), text, logos, and other content on the Site are owned by Grainlight Co LLC or its licensors, and are protected by copyright and trademark laws.
  • Buying a print or product gives you ownership of that physical item only. It doesn't transfer any copyright or other rights in the image or design. You may display, gift, or resell the physical item you bought. You may not copy, scan, reproduce, publish, or use the image or design for any commercial purpose (including on merchandise, online, or for AI training) without written permission from the copyright owner.
  • You may not copy, download, or reuse content from the Site except for personal, non-commercial viewing, or as the law otherwise allows.

7. Use of the Site

You agree not to misuse the Site. That includes trying to break its security, interfering with how it works, scraping content in bulk, or using it for anything unlawful.

8. Disclaimers

Except as stated in our Shipping & Returns policy or as required by law, the Site and our products are provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Grainlight Co LLC and its owners won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or our products. Our total liability for any claim related to a product or order is limited to the amount you paid for that product or order.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Before filing a claim, please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly and informally.

11. Privacy

Our Website Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. The Fieldlight app is covered by the separate Fieldlight Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when we post them on this page with a new "Last updated" date. The Terms in effect when you placed an order apply to that order.
