Local-First Data Storage

Fieldlight is designed as a local-first application.

  • Journal Entries & Metrics: All your field journal entries, locations, exposure metrics, and camera settings are stored directly on your physical device.

  • Image Analysis: Any analysis performed within the physical fine-art print lab (including PPI calculations and highlight/shadow analysis) occurs strictly within sandboxed application memory on your device.

  • No Server Uploads: We do not collect, store, or transmit your journal entries, artwork data, or personal photos to any external servers or third parties.

Personal Data

We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal identifying information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the core features of the App.

2. Device Permissions

To provide its core functionality, the App may request the following permissions on your mobile device:

  • Camera / Storage: Required to select, capture, and analyze images for your journal deck and print lab calculations.

  • Location Services: Used strictly to populate field log metrics (such as recording the location of an observation) at your explicit request. This data never leaves your device.

3. Telemetry and Tracking

We believe in absolute data privacy.

  • No Analytics: The App does not contain third-party analytics software or telemetry tracking.

  • No Information Brokerage: We do not track your behavior across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or monetize your data.

4. Security of Data

The security of your data relies on the physical security of your device. Because your data is stored locally, we recommend utilizing your device's built-in security features (such as encryption and biometric/passcode locks) and maintaining your own secure backups.
