Grainlight Co LLC ("we," "us," or "our") developed Fieldlight as a local-first utility for photographers, artists, and printmakers. This Privacy Policy explains what information Fieldlight uses, how it is stored, and what data, if any, is shared with Grainlight Co LLC.

Local-First Design

Fieldlight is designed to operate primarily on your device.

Journal entries, print records, observations, image metadata, and application settings are stored locally on your phone or tablet.

Image analysis features, including print preparation tools, PPI calculations, tonal analysis, and metadata extraction, are performed entirely on your device and are not transmitted to Grainlight Co LLC.

Fieldlight does not upload, collect, or store your journal entries, photographs, artwork information, or print records on external servers.

Personal Information

Fieldlight does not require you to create an account or sign in.

We do not request or collect personal information such as your name, email address, mailing address, or telephone number in order to use the application.

Device Permissions

Fieldlight may request access to certain device features to provide its intended functionality.

Photos and Media Access

Used to allow you to select images from your device for journal entries, metadata viewing, image analysis, and print preparation tools.

Camera Access

Used to read image metadata and support image-related features within the application. Fieldlight does not record video, capture images without your knowledge, or transmit camera data externally.

Location Services

Location access is optional and used only when you choose to record the location of an observation or journal entry. Location information remains stored locally on your device and is not shared with Grainlight Co LLC.

Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

Fieldlight does not include third-party analytics services, advertising SDKs, telemetry systems, or behavioral tracking technologies.

We do not monitor activity in other applications or websites.

We do not sell, rent, broker, or monetize user data.

Data Security and Backups

Because Fieldlight stores information locally, the security of your information depends largely on the security measures available on your device and operating system.

We recommend enabling your device's built-in security features, such as screen locks, encryption, biometric authentication, and regular backups.

Fieldlight does not maintain copies of your journal entries, images, or records. Some mobile operating systems may optionally back up application data to a user's personal cloud storage account. These backups are controlled by your device manufacturer or operating system provider and not by Grainlight Co LLC.

Google Play Services

Fieldlight is distributed through Google Play.

Purchases, downloads, updates, and other transactions handled through Google Play may be subject to Google's own privacy practices and policies.

Fieldlight itself does not receive payment information, credit card details, or billing information from Google Play purchases.

Your Data Choices

You may delete journal entries, print records, exported files, or uninstall the application at any time.

Uninstalling the application generally removes locally stored data unless that information has been preserved through an operating system backup service.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically.

Any updates will be posted on this page, and the "Last Updated" date will be revised accordingly.
